Shaded band is the middle half of live Buy It Now asking prices, 6-hour intervals; the line is the median. Auctions are excluded - a climbing bid is not an asking price. The scale follows the asking prices, so a sale well outside them is pinned to the edge rather than flattening the band.middle halfconfirmed salebest offer, at its cap

1940 Gum Inc Superman Card #31 Rescue Beneath The Sea Origin
Estimated grade: 3 (2–4) · MEDIUM confidence · asking $105.00

Centering estimate: left border appears slightly wider than right (approximately 55/45 L/R), top border noticeably narrower than bottom (approximately 60/40 T/B) — centering is passable but not strong. All four corners show visible rounding and wear, consistent with heavy handling over 80+ years; no corner is sharp. Surface shows significant toning, loss of original gloss, and what appears to be a diagonal surface scuff or light crease running across the upper-left quadrant — this is a meaningful surface defect. Edges are rough but typical for this era's cut quality. The card appears structurally intact with no obvious tears or paper loss, but the cumulative wear of rounded corners, gloss loss, and probable surface crease places this squarely in the VG (3) range, with VG-EX (4) possible if the surface mark is a print artifact rather than a crease, and GOOD (2) possible if the back reveals additional damage not visible here.

1940 Superman Gum R145 Superman Rescue beneath the Sea #31 7
Estimated grade: 3 (2–4) · MEDIUM confidence · asking $115.24

Centering estimate: left border ~10%, right border ~5-6% (card bleeds close to right edge), top border ~8%, bottom border ~12% — left/right approximately 65/35, top/bottom approximately 40/60, centering is off but not catastrophic for this era. Corners appear rounded on all four, most visibly at lower-left and upper-right, consistent with VG to VG-EX wear. Surface shows significant soiling, toning, and what appears to be a moderate crease or fold running diagonally in the lower-left quadrant; the card stock looks soft and the image has lost most original gloss. Edges are somewhat rough but expected for a 1940 Gum Inc. issue. The CoMC watermark obscures some surface detail, preventing a tighter range — the visible crease and corner rounding push this firmly into the VG (3) neighborhood, with a slight chance of VG-EX (4) if the crease is shallower than it appears.

1940 Superman Gum R145 Superman Rescue beneath the Sea #31 7
Estimated grade: 3 (2–4) · MEDIUM confidence · asking $115.24

Centering estimate: left border ~10-12%, right border ~5-7%, top border ~8%, bottom border ~8% - left/right ratio approximately 65/35 to 70/30, which alone would be acceptable, but the overall presentation shows more significant issues. Corners appear rounded on at least two to three corners, consistent with heavy handling typical of this 80+ year old set. Surface shows notable soiling, toning, and what appears to be creasing or paper disturbance in the lower-left quadrant and mid-card area, with general gloss loss throughout. The watermark obscures precise surface assessment, but visible wear patterns, rounded corners, and apparent surface crease push this squarely into the VG (3) range with a possible floor of GOOD (2) if the creasing is more severe than the photo reveals; clean centering and intact image art prevent a lower floor.

1940 R145 Superman Gum Inc. #31 Rescue Beneath the Sea
Estimated grade: 3 (2–4) · MEDIUM confidence · asking $489.99

Centering estimate: left border ~8mm, right border ~4mm, top border ~5mm, bottom border ~6mm — left/right roughly 65/35 to 70/30, top/bottom closer to 45/55; centering is off but not severely OC. Corners show visible rounding on all four, most notable on the lower-left and upper-right, consistent with a VG to VG-EX range. Surface shows moderate toning/aging with yellowed borders typical of 80-year-old gum cards; no obvious creases are detectable from this photo but the image resolution and mounting angle obscure fine surface detail and the card back entirely. Edges appear reasonably intact with no obvious tears or paper loss; gloss appears largely absent consistent with age and handling, placing this solidly in the VG (3) range with upside to VG-EX (4) if corners are slightly better than they appear and no hidden creases exist on the back.
