1940 Superman Gum R145 Superman Racing the Shells #40 READ 0
Estimated grade: 4 (3–5) · MEDIUM confidence · asking $471.10

Centering estimate: left border appears slightly wider than right (~55/45 L/R), top border slightly wider than bottom (~55/45 T/B) — centering is reasonable and not a major deduction. Corners show visible rounding and light wear, most apparent at the top-left and bottom-left corners, consistent with a VG-EX to EX range. Edges appear intact without major chipping or tears. Surface shows expected toning/age patina for an 83-year-old card with some apparent gloss loss; the COMC watermark obstructs the center surface making a precise surface assessment impossible. No creases are clearly visible from this photo, but the seller's 'READ' notation and typical raw card condition for this age suggest possible hidden flaws on the reverse. Given the visible corner wear and surface aging, a grade of 4 (VG-EX) is most likely, with EX (5) possible if corners are better than they appear and the back is clean.

1940 Gum Inc Superman ‘Racing The Shells’ #40 Rare Vintage C
Estimated grade: 3 (2–4) · MEDIUM confidence · asking $250.00

Centering estimate: left border appears slightly wider than right (~55/45 L/R), top border slightly wider than bottom (~55/45 T/B) — centering is acceptable for the grade range and not a major deduction. Corners: all four corners show visible rounding consistent with heavy handling; no sharp points remain, pointing firmly toward VG or below. Surface: significant toning/yellowing across the entire card face, consistent with age but also indicating gloss loss; there is visible surface soiling and what appears to be light staining particularly in the upper right quadrant. Edges appear worn but no obvious tears or paper loss are visible; no creases are definitively confirmed from this single photo angle, though the surface texture makes it difficult to rule them out — the back is unseen and could reveal additional defects that push the grade lower toward a 2.

1940 SUPERMAN 40 RACING THE SHELLS PSA FR 1.5 NS
Estimated grade: 1.5 (1–1.5) · HIGH confidence · asking —

Card is slabbed as PSA FR 1.5 and the grade is consistent with what the photo shows. Centering appears roughly 60/40 L/R and 55/45 T/B — not itself a major issue — but the card exhibits severe wear consistent with a FR-1 to FR-1.5 grade: heavy corner rounding on all four corners, significant surface creasing visible across the lower center and left portions of the card, and notable paper stress/wrinkling. Gloss is essentially absent and toning is evident throughout the yellowed stock. No visible writing, tears, or paper loss that would push to PR-1, but the multiple heavy creases and overall structural fatigue firmly anchor this in the FR 1.5 range. The PSA stated grade of 1.5 is credible and consistent with this photo.
