Index grading notes
Centering estimate: left border slightly wider than right (~55/45 L/R), top border appears slightly tighter than bottom (~55/45 T/B) — centering is not a significant grade killer here. Corners show visible rounding on all four, most notably the upper-left and lower-right, consistent with significant handling wear. Surface shows toning/aging across the card face typical of 80-year-old card stock, with some general soiling or foxing visible especially toward the edges; gloss appears largely absent. No obvious hard creases are detectable from this single front photo, though the aged stock and corner wear place this firmly in the VG to VG-EX range; the possibility of light surface creases that the photo does not reveal prevents pushing above a 4 ceiling. This is a very scarce 1940 issue and even in this grade carries solid collector value.
Centering estimate: left border ~12%, right border ~8%, top border ~10%, bottom border ~10% — left/right approximately 60/40 to 65/35, reasonably centered but slightly left-heavy; top/bottom near 50/50. The seller's note discloses a crease, which is visible as a diagonal stress line in the lower-center/lower-left area of the card face — this alone caps the grade at VG (3) or lower. Corner wear is evident on at least two corners with visible rounding, consistent with the seller's 'corner wear' disclosure. Surface gloss appears largely lost with some toning consistent with an 80+ year old card. No staining or tears are visible from this angle, but the crease and rounded corners firmly place this in the VG to GOOD range; back condition cannot be assessed from this photo.
